SIGSAM is the ACM Special Interest Group on Symbolic and Algebraic Manipulation.

We publish the ACM Communications in Computer Algebra and sponsor the International Symposium on Symbolic and Algebraic Computation (ISSAC).

ISSAC 2007 will be held 28 July - 1 August 2007 in Waterloo, Canada.

Why join SIGSAM?

SIGSAM members receive the following benefits:

  • a subscription to the quarterly publication ACM Communications in Computer Algebra, in print and through member-only access to the articles on the CCA website;
  • a copy of the Proceedings of the International Symposium on Symbolic and Algebraic Computation (ISSAC), the premier annual conference in the field of computer algebra and symbolic computation;
  • a discount on registration at ISSAC;
  • announcements of news and events in the field of symbolic computation through the SIGSAM-Members mailing list.
  • access to the ACM Online Guide to Computing Literature.
  • a substantial discount on a personal subscription to the Journal of Symbolic Computation (US$220, regularly US$400).
Membership dues are a modest US$30 per year (with a special rate of US$9 for students). You can join here. (Current members can renew their membership here.)

Awards

SIGSAM sponsors awards for distinguished papers and distinguished student authors at the annual International Symposium on Symbolic and Algebraic Computation (ISSAC).

Citation Index

SIGSAM maintains a citation index to aide authors in formally citing documentation for computer algebra systems used in published research.

Mailing Lists

SIGSAM announces events in computer algebra through the SIGSAM-Members and SIGSAM-Friends mailing lists.

SIGSAM also sponsors mailing lists on topics of research in computer algebra and symbolic computation. The list topics are
